As part of our training we spend time increasing fitness, flexibility, balance, speed and power. Padwork is an integral part of our training.  We find that adults and children alike benefit from practising their techniques on pads.  For children it's an ideal way to burn off a bit of energy.  Adults find it a great way of combating stress and aggression.

As part of our self defence routines we incorporate various defensive drills to combat the most common forms of attack.  Many of our beginners are interested in self defence, however most people find that once they have been training a while their own self confidence and self awareness have increased and they no longer find themselves in situations of physical conflict.  Regardless of this we aim to teach people practical self defence which suits their natural size, strength and abilities.

Students training in kata.

Gradings for adults and children are held 3 times a year in February, June and October at the Eversley Centre, Pitsea.  Children are assessed on their weekly performance in the dojo and then are given opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt at the gradings in order to achieve their next belt.  It takes an average student who trains diligently 5 years to acheive their blackbelt.

Competitions are available however our emphasis in training is to enable our students to enjoy a life long participation in martial arts rather than for sporting gain.
