Thursdays 6.30-7.30pm Children and 6.30-8pm adults

This is a family class where both adults and children are welcome and are taught seperately within the same dojo.

This is a class where families can get fit together and learn new skills.  The class will join together for a light cardiovascular warmup and stretching, before going to their seperate instructors to learn basics including blocks, kicks and strikes, padwork and pairwork.  Adults will work on gradually improving fitness and flexibilty while progressing through a structured syllabus.   There is no maximum age limit as we consider the study of karate to be a life enhancing pursuit rather than merely a sport

Adult section using pairwork to train on hand techniques.

Childrens class

Children are taught seperately from adults as we like to ensure their training incorporates some fun activities.  Children work on techniques, learn to spar and to perform kata (set forms) as part of their grading requirements.  In addition much time is spent on fitness, flexibility, balance and co-ordination.  The children also enjoy hitting and kicking pads to increase power and focus.

"We think Sessen Ryu Karate is great!  In the beginning we didn't know what to do but we soon got the hang of it thanks to Sensei Jill.  We train 3 times a week - it keeps us fit and healthy and it's fun too!"
Nancy & David Simes aged 8 & 5

The class is instructed by Sensei Albie O'Connor and Sensei Jill O'Connor (01375) 640609

New starters are welcome throughout the year.

The first 2 lessons are always free!
