Sensei Terry Wingrove Seminar at East Thurrock United Football Club, Rookery Hill, Corringham, Essex, Thursday 23rd September 2010, 7.30 pm - £15. Post code SS17 9LB.

If you haven't yet experienced Sensei Terry Wingrove's effective methods of inflicting pain then please come along to future events - feeling is believing. See image below of Sensei Albie and Sensei Dean on the receiving end at one of our previous Seminars. For further information on Sensei Terry Wingrove visit our links page and click on Cyberbudo. He runs seminars up and down the UK and abroad details of which are on the Cyberbudo website if you wish to support other seminar hosts.
Here is a picture of Sensei Albie and Dean at a seminar on the receiving end of Sensei Terry's very unique grip. The clenched fists and grasping hands of the recipients are the outward manifestations of their pain - as is the strange raising of their bodies off the ground which isn't conveyed in this photo. Interesting to see the concern on their fellow students faces!

We were honoured to host Tino Ceberano Hanshi and Sensei Terry Wingrove for an Arnis (Philippine stick fighting) and karate seminar at Eversley Leisure Centre, Pitsea on Sunday 4th April. While some were at home enjoying their eggs on Easter Sunday we were being taught some very useful and fluid hand and foot techniques followed by a session on the Arnis sticks which was a new experience for many.
This was followed by a question and answer session for those wanting to get a better insight into the past training methods and listen to the anecdotes of 2 such well informed and experienced martial artists.

Sensei Terry Wingrove Thursday 11th March 2010 7.30pm at East Thurrock United Football Club, Rookery Hill, Corringham, Essex = £15
Sensei Terry Wingrove returned to Corringham to conduct a seminar on 11th March. Although I have been on several of his seminars I never cease to be amazed at the variety of means of debilitating students and the spontaneity/fluidity of his movement.
On the first Seminar I attended some years back , the techniques used by Sensei Terry were instant and devastating and very different from anything I'd seen before. It seemed it would be impossible to learn anything like it in a lifetime. However each time I have attended one of his seminars I have seen different techniques being applied and had them explained to me so that I'm starting to get the idea. The more I see the techniques the more they start to sink in. It seems like learning a new language. The first time I saw Sensei Terry's techniques they were overwhelming - like listening to a foreign language for the first time. Now after several seminars I can start to pick out techniques and understand what he is aiming for and what his techniques are designed to achieve. After his latest seminar I came home and made notes as there was lots to remember. Hopefully I can practise some of the techniques on some poor victim in time to learn some more the next time Sensei Terry visits.
I will always enjoy kicking and punching and striking as an integral part of martial arts and as a good way to work out - but to achieve Sensei Terry's level of understanding and ability would truly be something to aspire to. At the first seminar such knowledge seemed unattainable - after several seminars I see that it is attainable - bit by bit..................Jill O'Connor
11th March
Course at Eversley on 29th November 2009.

In Dec 2009 we had the pleasure of visiting Sasen Ryu Karate in Spain where we met and trained alongside their students and spent time working with Sensei Saskia Hickling, Sensei Davin Hickling and Sempai Jaden Hickling.
We were very impressed with the positive, friendly attitude of their international students whether sparring or learning new techniques. Sensei Saskia proved herself to be a calm and confident instructor and we wish her success in the steady growth of Sasen Ryu. We hope to put a link to their website shortly on the links page. In the meantime here are some photos from the trip. Check out their website by clicking their logo on the links page.

Prof Rick Clark Thursday 10th April 2008.
Here are some photos from the seminar on Thursday 10th April where we were pleased to welcome Prof Rick Clark back to our dojo. The seminar was as ever enjoyable and we all trained with different partners throughout the evening which meant we were able to see how techniques worked on students of different builds. As always Prof Rick was able to very clearly illustrate that the right technique applied to the right spot certainly does the job!
People moving in mysterious ways - you'd have to be there to get the whole picture.

Ouch! - but in a nice way.
Now son -when exactly did you do your homework?
Group line up - great to see so many new faces

Simon doing his seal impression. Or someone was overenthusiastic when putting joint locks on his legs!

Students who attend Terry Wingrove's Seminars are always astounded at his breadth of knowledge of the human body and his seemingly limitless ways of inflicting mind-numbing pain (literally). Combine this with his sharp witted delivery and a lifetime's recollection of training and you always get a very memorable seminar. If you do have a short memory - the black and blue bits should help you recall certain techniques!

Those of you who have trained with Rick Clark before will be familiar with his informal teaching methods which mean everyone gets to train with everyone else in a friendly atmosphere. His relaxed, friendly teaching methods belie levels of pain he is able to inflict with very little effort. His teaching is ideal for those interested in pressure points and bunkai. ........Sensie Albie on the receiving end!
Rick Clark is a prominent American martial artist and author of 75 down blocks and pressure point fighting. - available from Amazon and most martial arts shops (including Kam's in Eastgate).
